Hague School painter, draftsman, watercolorist, lithographer crafted genre pieces include Old Hindelooper inside homes; in 1861 he received an honorary include artprize exhibition; He was appointed in 1863 Knight of the Order of the Oak Crown (Sheen 1981).Topics genre scene, figure performance, interiors, portrait, still life’s, slideshow (genre), history (as a genre), mythology. Work of Bishop is in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Rijksmuseum, the Groninger Museum, and the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden, the Dordrecht Museum, and the Municipal Museum in The Hague, The Mesdag Collection The Hague and the Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen. He died in October 1904 at the age of 76 in Scheveningen. After his death an exhibition of honor was held with his paintings and watercolors in 1905 in Pulchri Studio in The Hague. In 2008 more work from Bishop at the exhibition "Painting and Living in Scheveningen in the Belle Epoque" in Muzee Scheveningen. In 2010, his work - along with that of Jurres and Alma Tadema - exhibited in the Fries Museum.
